Columbia University: YPS Program

Columbia University

Youth, Peace, and Security Program,

With a special invite from Kobi Skolnick, Program Facilitator, I joined ta panel of community builders, United Nations representatives, and change-agents. Together we shared our stories of community impact on a global, regional, and local lens. Our conversation sparked the launch of the YPS program, a global opportunity to support emerging youth leaders.

A Global Opportunity

Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) is a critical, emerging field and the YPS Leadership program, co-sponsored by AC4 and SPS at Columbia University, is designed to advance the work of youth leaders around the world by creating joint efforts between practitioners and academia.

This program…

✓ Developed rigor in youth, peace and security efforts

✓ Built on local knowledge and experience to apply to a broader audience globally

✓ Enhanced practice by grounding it in theory in areas related to YPS

✓ Connect global, regional and local networks via our global engagement partners

✓ Supported the implementation of the YPS global agenda.

The convening of the second cohort of the YPS leadership program began in June 2019 and was open to young leaders working toward the advancement of YPS.
